I have played the game series Golden Sun and realized that the Cynitives look a lot like the Proxians from the north. They live in similar evironments, cold and harsh. Their skin colorings are quite similar and the ears look alike as well. The Proxians don't have tails though, but that would be the only way to distinguish a mixed crowd of the two races. Just pointing out.
And I have a question: I know Cynitives embrace conflict, but can they be unnerved? I may end up putting in one of my psychopathic maniacs and he enjoys instilling fear in whatever moves and feels. The Paixides I know full well Gustav can scare the crap out of, but what about the Cynitives?
So, by this reasoning, even though Gustav would probably creep out most human beings, most Cynitives would simply view him as another challenge?
To put it another way, say he takes out an entire battalion of Cynitives (whether or not he actually can is not relevant here). Brutally and quite grotesquely tears them all apart. Leaves one alive, scarred, bruised, tail cut off, so he/she can tell the others about what happened. Would the majority of the Cynitives see Gustav as just another warrior to defeat? Would this change if he did it again and again?
And, just out of curiosity, would Gyozo be more pissed about this happening, or more intrigued?
Well, theoretically speaking, they'd start to see him as a threat that needs to be eliminated.
As for Gyozo, he may be intrigued in the beginning, but soon enough he'd be pissed enough to try and end the threat himself. He may be ruthless, but he is still a king, and anything (or anyone) that threatens his people and his lands will be dealt with accordingly.
I have a question! Does this race have pirates? Or... would there by any use for a pirate character in this OCT, given that it seems like most of the action will be taking place on land...

As for pirates entering the world, well, I'm sure you can come up with something awesome if you put your mind to it
